Shopify to DATEV: separate orders from payments
Prepare Shopify orders and associated transactions for the monthly DATEV handoff. Keep shop sales separate from payment-provider fees and payouts.
Know what the connection supplies
The Shopify connection imports order data and associated order transactions. Those transactions contain payment references and amounts, but do not supply fee amounts in this workflow.
Authorize the shop and its order permissions. Check the accessible order history before choosing a backfill period; connect relevant payment sources separately.
From connection to export
- 01
Connect the source
Authorize the relevant account in your company workspace. Check the permissions and the available history.
- 02
Review the month
Synchronize the chosen month. Check source coverage and accounting settings with your bookkeeper.
- 03
Prepare the DATEV handoff
Download the available booking batches for your month and pass them to your tax firm.
TaxRouter prepares downloadable DATEV booking batches. Your tax firm handles their import, bookkeeping review and agreed tax work.
Why the payout is not your revenue
€1,000 − €100 − €30 = €870. Keep the sales, refund and fee evidence separate; the net movement alone cannot explain your bookkeeping. A bank payout may fall in a different period.

Before you start
Does this include every Shopify Payments payout?
Do not assume that. The order transaction import does not provide a complete payout-and-fee statement. Check the payment evidence required for your shop.
Why connect PayPal or Stripe as well?
Shop orders explain what was sold. Payment-provider records explain money movements and fees. Use both where they apply to your setup.
Can I use my existing tax firm?
You can hand the downloadable DATEV batches to your firm. Agree the accounting settings, source coverage and import process first.
