PayPal to DATEV: prepare monthly payment records

Bring PayPal transaction records into your monthly accounting workflow. Review payments and fees alongside your shop data before preparing DATEV files.

Know what the connection supplies

TaxRouter retrieves PayPal transaction records for the selected month and prepares them as payment events. Keep the corresponding orders or invoices available for review.

Provide the PayPal API credentials required by the connection and select the correct environment. Confirm reporting access for the business account.

Before you connect

Do not mix sandbox records with live bookkeeping. Historical availability and reporting permissions must be checked for your account; a payment import is not an order import.

From connection to export

  1. 01

    Connect the source

Authorize the relevant account in your company workspace. Check the permissions and the available history.

  2. 02

    Review the month

Synchronize the chosen month. Check source coverage and accounting settings with your bookkeeper.

  3. 03

    Prepare the DATEV handoff

Download the available booking batches for your month and pass them to your tax firm.

TaxRouter prepares downloadable DATEV booking batches. Your tax firm handles their import, bookkeeping review and agreed tax work.

Why the payout is not your revenue

€1,000 − €100 − €30 = €870. Keep the sales, refund and fee evidence separate; the net movement alone cannot explain your bookkeeping. A bank payout may fall in a different period.

Illustrative EUR example, not customer data or a DATEV import file. It assumes no opening balance, reserves, currency conversion or other adjustments.

Before you start

Is a bank statement enough?

It shows transfers to the bank, not every customer payment or fee within PayPal. Use the transaction records to explain those movements.

Can PayPal payments duplicate shop sales?

They describe different sides of the same sale. Review matching and accounting settings so a payment is not treated as a second sale.

Can I import any historical period?

Choose a month and verify that PayPal supplies the required transactions with your reporting permissions. Do not assume unlimited history.
